We celebrated New Year at The Station Inn Marshbrook Last night with Mike & Sal, steve & Liz, steve & Helen, Mike & Ruth, charlie & Linda a good meal was ate and plenty of Beer consumed.
Over the Christmas period we have a crime to solve who stole the dressed pheasant was it Douglas or was it Jack.

Generally a wet week ending with 10.8 mm Rain on Saturday night. Loaned the lowloader out to Teme Valley Tractors to move a Combine from Tenbury to Kington Gardener Jane came Monday ,Tuesday and wednesday to finish the garden off for the winter. Officer Jane came on Tuesday so watch out all those thinking I've forgotten that invoice. Wednesday Jill came and caught up with the accounts and gossip. Thursday Steve and I went to Norton to sort out the damged door then I did some paper work in the afternoon and entertained Mr Probert TVT till about 8:30pm Friday I collected most of a load of beans from Ludford Park weighing them at Bromfield Then went to sort Richard Yates broadband out. Saturday Caroline and I went to watch Rosi play Waterpolo at Gloucester.

We have had two nights of frost this week after the snow on Sunday which was a good 6inches deep on Monday. Caroline didn't manage to get to school on Monday. I have spent most of the week trying to get to grips with the accounts, I had a meeting with a costings consultant on Wednesday and the accountant came on Thursday evening, his staff were concerned(tax) with an invoice referring to making and fitting a Penthouse. We loaded a load of wheat on Friday but movement is very slow we have a number of contracts out standing and the price is slipping. Post Christmas feed wheat is trading at below £150/tonne

Since going off line I've combined about 1100 acres of Rape wheat, Barley Oats and Beans and Drilled 880 acres of Wheat, barley and oats. David drills the rape with a different machine. I've also disced and pressed something like 500 acresas well. I have now been without my Broadband since we changed Telephone suppliers on 17th Oct, but it returned today. Its been a bit frustrating but as we will save about £200 a quarter probably well worth the hazzle We have had a week of post drilling euphorea, we have done as little as required returning the machinery to coppice house and surveying the damages.

Thomas took the Manitou to Wood farm to help Robin with his roofs. I spent the afternoon in the Office sorting things Caroline took mother to Redditch to see a museum display she had helped with.

Me and Thomas finished setting up the diesel header tank for the generator putting a filter in the system and extending the filling pipe (HSE take note) After dinner we decided we would use the bowser to fill the generator as we needed to get on rather than wait for a delivery we then finished drying Phil's Rape

9.9C and 61.2mm rain in the last 24Hrs,Very wet @ 07:00am 0.9mm in the last hour Took Ginny to work via Wetmore because traffic was queing to go through water at Wooton and by the Five Chimmneys on the A49 came back via Main Road, it was passable with care for most traffic although there were two cars parked in the water and others scatered around it. Then Caroline and I went to shop at Tuffins for Grandma as well, came back to Stokesay and the traffic was queing so I turned around and went over past Norton to see what mess was there thats was OK only to get to Onibury to see the queue was from Wooton so we followed another truck over the railway and river bridge on the wrong side to get to the Blacksmith's corner and turn off.
After lunch I collected a mini digger from Aldon and Steve and I opened a ditch all around the Grain store at Gorst barn to see if we could stop the water rising inside, I think successfully, watch this space. Then I collected Ginny from work and the A49 was clear but it looked as though there had been a HGV in the ditch which had probably caused the queing, Ginny then went out after tea.

As you can see it rained all day I left Thomas to his own devices in the morning Whilst I went to the bank and Corfields. In the afternoon we measured and sorted pipes to put a header tank of diesel for the generator. Then about 4:30 pm Caroline rang to say that she was stuck at school because the Kyre brook was out in Tenbury high street, where the wall had collapsed the other day. I picked up Ginny at Bromfield The A49 appeared to be blocked at Ashford so we went Via Richards Castle then back to Woofferton Just before Little Hereford we pulled a Van out of what was about the tenth flood we went through. We were allowed down the main street at Tenbury but was blocked at the bend by the Crow. I walked to meet Caroline but failed to find her but when I came back the water was another 6inches deeper. Eventually Caroline came with two other teachers in tow we took one to clee hill and one to whitton. We eventually got home at about 7:00pm

12.9C and 0mm rain in the last 24Hrs,Very Bright and sunny @ 07:00am Phil brought a load of rape for drying and He and Will took the rest of their wheat back on our trailors Me and thomas made some adjust ments to the hooper and elevators then started to put the load of Oats through the dryer emptying Davids Trailor then thomas loaded it with wheat and took it to Gurneys.When he came back we loaded the oats back in it and followed it through the dryer with Phils OSR he and Will brought the rest, later in the afternoon. David sprayed all the OSR at Coppice house and Norton with Round up he found a number of wet holes but managed to get it all done. The rain started about 7:00pm accompanied with thunder

TNT came to Steves tractor which had a flat tyre.

Robin, Thomas and I spent most of the day fitting some flat galvanised sheets on the roof at Gorst Barn to try and stop the rain running into the one grain bunker.It was very hard work the expanding foam we had tried before had glued the asbestos sheets down and we needed to free them up first.then lift the top sheet enough to push the galvanised up underneath. It took about four hours and we were exhausted.

Thomas went to help Bobber shear. I went to Gorst Barn to start the combine but the battary charger had blown its fuse. I took the compressor back to Ludlow Hire. got back in time for the meeting with John Greenall about the insurances, took all morning. After dinner I went to the bank and then Ledwyche via Dennis Leaversedge to get indicator light fixed but it still hasn't arrived. Changed the ball on the Landrover and brought the trailor back and collected the Ram for the blower lorry and some galvanised sheet from Rob Price. I then popped to see a computer at Middleton before tea

Ray Bod turned up to look at the old dryer to see what parts are needed. Later I went to top some of the grass at the Rock.

After dinner Thomas loaded Tony with a load of wheat for Ed Harris.Then we continued drying Phils wheat and Oats The Generator ran out of diesel in the afternoon but was started straight away. After Tea I went up the Teme Valley calling to do computer work getting home about Midnight.-

As no diesel had turned up I serviced the Rayburn and Thomas leveled potholes on Gorst Barn Drive but he caught the back window on a branch and broke it. When the diesel came we emptied the hopper of wheat, Phil brought a load of Oats for drying up.

10.4C and 0.4mm rain in the last 24Hrs,clear and dry @ 07:00am loaded the last load of wheat this morning The lorry had to make a diversion because the A49 was still closed David came to help sweep up we had about 5.5tonnes left so we moved that into the other bay so we could dry Phil Norton's wheat. Phil brought another load up and Will took him home then Mike brought another load about mid-day. David, Steve and I went out for lunch with Julian of Shropshire Grain and Tom Lazenby at Much Wenlock had a good lunch at The George and Dragon and came back to continue drying Phil's Wheat, but its very wet some over 30% moisture. Tenbury school was open but alot of roads are still blocked so Caroline worked at Home.

I'm afraid I'm out of the habit and forgot to look at temp and rain (about 15MM I think). Phil Nort rang first thing to say after all the rain the River Corve had flooded all his yard and buildings, including his grain store where he had about 100 tonne of wheat and Oats, could I help? so he and mike his staff hauled three loads of it up to the dryer. Using two of our trailers. We pushed the remains of our wheat out of the dryer ready to load to-morrow. Thomas took a load of wheat to Wigmore in the morning. hav ing to take various diversions because of the flooding. Tenbury High school was closed and the River Teme had burst its banks all over the main street. Burway bridge has fallen down as well. Caroline stayed a home.

After packing and clearing our room we took the tram down to the pool in time to see the losers final ie 3rd & 4th place tie The Ukraine beat Czech republic. Then Gb lost to France to take 2nd place in a very tight game. Then after the closing ceremony and presentation of tropheys, we took the tram for the last time back to the hotel to pick up our bags then immediately took a taxi to the airport,as we were concerned about the time it now takes to check in now a days. we took off at 4:15pm about 30mins late. arrived back in Manchester, sorted the landrover and drove home collecting tea at the chip shop in Craven Arms.

Another nice day we took the number10 Tram to the old City west of the river. Here we saw the various Government Building and Churchs we were caught in a shower or two and bought some see through polythene capes which were very useful. We walked along by the old city walls to a tower similar in design to the Eiffel tower and built the same year we returned to the city via a sloping railway, similar to the one at Bridgnorth, crossed St Charles bridge and caught a number 17 tram to the Swimming pool where we watched GB beat the Ukraine to get to the final with France who beat the czech Republic We returned to the Hotel then went out for a meal in the Mall across the street. not as good as last nights.

ANOTHER DRY MORNING BUT COOLER THAN YESTERDAY after Caroline and Ginny bought some better walking shoes and some wide brimmed hats, and some Umberellas We bought 24 hr ticket for the trams and caught a number 9 to the old city, east of the river. We went to Wenseslas square and visited a museum about communism and how the czech people resisted it and eventually over threw the regime. We then caught a number 17 tram to the pool and watched GB beat Portugal. On returning to the Hotel we went to the local mall for a meal which was very good.

No weather stats for coppice house, but Prague was no rain and very hot. We decided we would walk the 2 to 3 miles through the city from the Hotel to the swimming pool When we got to the pool the temperature in the shade had been over 30C. After we watched Great Britain (GBR) vs Slovakia (SVK) - [7-5]
the heavan's opened it was too wet to play water-polo so we thought we could make our way back on the trams and stay dry unfortunately we failed by the time we got to the hotel we were soaked to the skin.After drying out we dined in the hotel Resturant

Ray bod called to measure the Generator for its protection kit. Thomas fetched two loads of wheat from ledwyche. David spraying T3's at Norton. I popped across there to tidy up the heaps of mud. After tea I popped to Tenbury with a couple of computer jobs the first I was unable to setup because of lack of Electricity due to the Thunder Storms

11.4C and 39.6mm rain in the last 24Hrs,clear but cloudy @ 07:00am Unloaded a load of fert first thing then took the Land Rover to Leversedges for its MOT Thomas brought me back. I used Mums car to pop Ette to the station and go to the bank. After dinner Thomas and I started to look at tidying up fert bags, then Tony of Moores Logistic came for a load of wheat for Ed Harris, He had come from delivering a load of cake to Ledwyche for the cattle there, about half an hour after he had left without a sheet the heavens opened. I then had a call to unload another load of fertiliser. As I was waiting to get on the A49 there was forked lightening all around and it was pouring with rain. The road was flooded at Onibury Townhall and it was running full width down the road about 6inches deep. By the keepers cottage it was over the front axle of the loader, It was coming out of all gateways above the road like a torrent, at the bottom of the Norton lane it had washed all the stone and gravel onto the road to about 12inches deep. The lorry was parked just the onibury side of the gates and the water was going over the second bar of the gates about 2'6" up, down the yard through the cattle sheds and it had blown the gates at the bottom of the yard out. There was now too much soil on the road behind the lorry for him to reverse so I went back to Coppy house to get the dirt shovell, through Onibury which was by now totally impassable at the village hall by most vechiles the torrent on the road was deeper, but the brand hill side of the A49 there was much less rain. When I got back to Norton the rain had eased and I moved about 100 ton of soil from behind the lorry and we were able to unload it about 2hours late. Then I had to tidy the rest of the soil and stone up there was another 60 tonnes at the bottom of the lane and about 150tons along the Vernald common road it took until about 8:00 pm when the Manitou was almost out of diesel. Peter Vaughan also sent his loader and brush up to help. We had about 40 mm of rain in 2 hours.

Thomas turned up at about 11:00am and greased the trailers then started to tidy up the bottom shed After dinner I went to sort the computer out and deliver a screen to Teme valley Tractors calling back by R Moore to collect a cheque for said fert.

We had a very hot and bright day down in Wendy Hertfordshire The journey to the site was quite difficult with a lot of traffic and taking about 4Hours. We saw lots of people from this side of the country and were fed and watered by, New Holland, Grainfarmers, Frontier, Glencore with as much food as we could eat. On the way back the journey was better we stopped at Warwick for a meal and got home at about mid-night.

Watched Rugby from 7:30am till 6:00pm non of it very exciting. New Zealand v France was ruined by a one eyed Ref who removed forward pass and knock on from the rule book, also france's advantage lasted a milli-second where as New Zealand's appeared to be open ended, This sort of displayed by a Ref can do no good to New Zealand even if they are the best side. Wales were a shadow of the team last week or perhaps Australia had had butts kicked. England stuck with South Africa until half time, playing quite well, but were blown away in the second half. The best game was England A against New Zealand Mouris in the Churchill Cup. Its surprising how the New Zealand side has to respect the offside line in the northern Hemisphere with a French Ref.

Caroline went down to Viv's. After dinner I firered up the dryer and dried about 100tonnes of wheat. Mother returned at about 6:00pm
I noticed there was one less Swift flying and the others late on in the evening were coming to their nest hole over the kitchen window, I presume the other is now sitting and they are feeding her, they do it so quickly its difficult to see whats going on.

I did about 240 miles all together and travelled through Craven Arms 8 times,by the time I had collected and returned the trailer, which in Dave Gorman parlance is 30miles per Craven Arms. For those who are interested in logistics We also took a load of books to Nottingham for their books for Tanzania charity as an out going load. After tea I took some computer parts to Church Stretton which I forgot to take yesterday
